Today, veteran Spanish player Rudy Fernández updated his social media, officially announcing his retirement.
The 39-year-old veteran has just concluded his sixth Olympic journey. His spectacular dunks and three-point shooting will forever be etched in the hearts of fans.
Here is what he wrote on his social media update,
“An incredible journey has come to an end, one that I never even planned for, until I’m ending my career as a professional basketball player at the age of 39.
I feel like the most loyal member of the club as I retire.
I never thought I could fly so fast, so high, and compete head-on with my opponents. I will miss you all, but it’s time to embark on a brand new path, more than ever I want to be with my family. Of course, I will continue to enjoy this wonderful sport, forever. Thank you all for flying with me.”
Rudy’s career includes seven Spanish League championships, three EuroLeague titles, he also played for the Trail Blazers, was named to the All-Rookie Second Team, participated in the dunk contest, and left a deep impression on fans.
On the national team level, Rudy served the Spanish team for 20 years, participated in six Olympics, won two Olympic silver medals, one Olympic bronze medal, and also won the World Cup twice.
Such a glorious career deserves admiration, wishing Rudy a smooth and happy retired life!
