According to previous reports, the NBA has reached a new broadcasting agreement worth $77 billion over 11 years with three companies. TNT, which currently holds the rights, was unable to match the offer and thus lost the NBA rights.
The official statement from TNT Sports is as follows:
“We matched Amazon’s offer because we had the right to do so under our contract, and we could not believe that the NBA would reject our match. By doing so, they are turning their back on countless fans who have steadfastly supported our world-class news services, delivered through Warner Bros. Discovery’s video-first platform, ensuring comprehensive coverage, including from TNT, our partner of 40 years with the NBA, and Max, our leading streaming service. We believe they have seriously misconstrued our contractual rights for the 2025-26 season and beyond, and therefore we will take necessary action. However, we look forward to another great season of the NBA on TNT and Max, including our signature show Inside the NBA.”
