Today, according to the hoopswire reporter Sam Amico, an anonymous player from the Lakers Summer League team claims that Bronny does not deserve his spot, and the team atmosphere is extremely tense.
“I mean, he’s being treated differently from everyone else, unlike all of us. It’s really annoying because we as a team don’t feel any chemistry, and I’m feeling quite frustrated, as I’ve never been placed in the best position or even had any standout performances, nor was I part of the team’s plans, as they wanted to showcase Bronny’s skills,” the anonymous player said.
“If you ask other players who participated in the California Summer League with us, most would tell you the same thing. The tension within the team is obvious; we all hope that the Summer League ends soon so we can move on and plan for our next steps in our careers. He isn’t ready, and I believe he doesn’t even have any preparation for the NBA.”
Bronny was the 55th pick this year, signing a four-year contract worth $7.9 million. In the California Summer League, he averaged 3.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.5 blocks, with a 25% shooting rate and a 25% three-point shooting rate.
In the Las Vegas Summer League, he averaged 8.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, with a 35% shooting rate and a mere 15.8% three-point shooting rate.
