At 7 AM on July 19th, the NBA Summer League continues with a match between the Kings and the Wizards. The number two draft pick from the Wizards, Sall, had an abysmal performance in his last game going 0-for-15. Whether he can bounce back is the biggest highlight of this game.
The Kings previously participated in the Summer League with two separate teams, which were then merged. In the three games following the merger, the Kings have a record of 1 win and 2 losses, defeating the Jazz 82-70, losing to the Grizzlies 83-103, and narrowly losing to the Knicks 105-106 in their last game.
The Kings have a solid lineup, led by Khyre Ellis who was part of the rotation last season. He had a 31-point performance in one of the previous Summer League games, scoring 29 points against the Knicks in the last game, showing great form. Additionally, Mason Jones, Kobe Jones, and others also possess good skills. Achu, who previously played for a CBA team, also represents the Kings in the Summer League.
The Wizards’ Summer League roster is led by this year’s number two draft pick, Sall. However, his performance has been terrible. In the last game against the Blazers, Sall went 0-for-15 throughout the game, 0-for-7 from outside, and missed both free throws, scoring no points at all, setting the worst record in NBA Summer League history. In the first three Summer League games, Sall shot 8-for-41, a field goal percentage of 19.5%, and from outside, he was 2-for-17, hitting just 11.7% of his shots, a truly dismal shooting percentage.
The Wizards previously participated in three Summer League games, with a record of 1 win and 2 losses. They narrowly beat the Hawks in the first game but lost consecutively to the Rockets and the Blazers after that. Despite Sall’s poor performance, Carrington, the 14th pick, has performed very well, scoring 19, 18, and 20 points in the three games respectively. Champani has also scored in double digits in three consecutive games, being the team’s two most consistent scorers.
Summer League rosters for both teams:
Wizards: Carrington, Finke, Champani, Stevenson, Bernard, Baldwin, George, Nowell, Butler, Sall, Vukcevic, Omoruyi, Robertson, Davis.
Kings: Khyre Ellis, Kobe Jones, Mason Jones, Isaac Jones, Tim, Crawford, Achu, Snider, Bugi Ellis, Arms, Carver, Goodwin, Davis, Blatche.
