Kemba Walker, after concluding his playing career, has returned to the place where he enjoyed his greatest NBA success. The Charlotte Hornets recently announced that Walker will join their coaching staff as a player development coach.
During his eight seasons with the Hornets, Walker was a three-time All-Star and finished as the team’s all-time leading scorer with 12,009 points.
The 34-year-old Walker announced his retirement on Tuesday. He previously played for the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Dallas Mavericks, apart from the Hornets. Last season, he suited up for AS Monaco in the French league, which captured the French championship.
Selected ninth overall by the then-Hornets in 2011, Walker holds numerous records with the team, including being the all-time leader in three-pointers and minutes played, as well as ranking in the top ten in assists (second), steals (third), games played (third), and rebounds (eighth).
To support new head coach Charles Lee, the Hornets revealed a series of assistant coaches on Wednesday, with Walker among them.
