June 30 update: It has been confirmed that Cam Reddish will remain with the Los Angeles Lakers for the upcoming season.
Per sports journalist Dave McMenamin, Reddish has elected to exercise his $2.46 million player option for the 2024-25 season with the Lakers. The 24-year-old forward had a promising start with the Lakers last season but was limited to just 48 games due to injuries and was sidelined during the playoffs.
It’s worth noting, however, that Reddish’s tenure with the Lakers beyond this point is far from guaranteed.
In an effort to address roster weaknesses, the Lakers are likely to move some players, with Reddish topping the list. His contract is relatively small, requiring minimal additional assets in a trade, and by the end of last season, he was not part of the team’s regular rotation. Furthermore, the Lakers have drafted another wing player, Dalton Knecht, who is anticipated to take up minutes that would have otherwise belonged to Reddish.
If Reddish starts the season on the roster, it would be quite an unexpected development.
