The men’s team will be led by David Ferrer and consists of Alcaraz, Nadal, Bautista Agut, Fognini, and Granollers. The first four players will participate in singles, while Granollers will only compete in doubles. Nadal has previously won gold medals in both singles and doubles at the Olympics. Ferrer has confirmed that Nadal and Alcaraz will form the men’s doubles pair.
The women’s team will be headed by Garbiñe Muguruza, with Paula Badosa and Sara Sorribes Tormo representing Spain. It’s worth mentioning that former world number two, Badosa, will not be participating in the Olympics. According to regulations, her ranking protection allows her to choose two out of three tournaments: Wimbledon, the Olympics, and the US Open. Badosa has opted to compete at Wimbledon and the US Open.
