According to RMC Sport, AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who is currently in rehabilitation, is anticipated to be named in France’s squad for the 2024 UEFA European Championship.
Maignan’s season has been plagued by injuries. He was forced off in the 80th minute of Milan’s 0-0 Champions League draw against Newcastle at home in September 2023 due to a thigh strain. In March 2024, during the Europa League round of 16 second leg, he left the pitch injured against Slavia Prague after a 3-1 away victory due to a knee issue. Despite an uncertain return date, Maignan remains a key figure for the French national team.
Following Hugo Lloris’ retirement from the French national team, Maignan has taken over as the first-choice goalkeeper. This season, he has featured in 42 matches for AC Milan, conceding 52 goals with 15 clean sheets, demonstrating solid form. With the aim of winning the 2024 European Championship, Maignan’s timely comeback would undoubtedly bolster France’s title aspirations.
