According to reports from the Turkish sports outlet Sabahspor, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) is considering imposing fees on clubs based on the number of foreign players they field, in an effort to promote the use of local talent.
The Turkish Super League previously allowed teams to register up to 14 foreign players. This year, the TFF reduced that number to 12. Nevertheless, the federation remains dissatisfied with the high number of foreign players, which it believes limits opportunities for Turkish national team players and affects their development. As a result, the TFF plans to charge clubs for each foreign player they include in their squads.
The proposed fee structure is as follows:
- 1 Foreign Player: 170,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 37,550 Chinese Yuan)
- 2 Foreign Players: 370,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 81,726 Chinese Yuan)
- 3 Foreign Players: 650,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 143,573 Chinese Yuan)
- 4 Foreign Players: 990,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 218,673 Chinese Yuan)
- 5 Foreign Players: 1,300,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 287,146 Chinese Yuan)
- 6 Foreign Players: 1,700,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 375,500 Chinese Yuan)
- 7 Foreign Players: 2,200,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 485,940 Chinese Yuan)
- 8 Foreign Players: 2,700,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 596,382 Chinese Yuan)
- 9 Foreign Players: 4,200,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 927,705 Chinese Yuan)
- 10 Foreign Players: 5,200,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 1,148,587 Chinese Yuan)
- 11 Foreign Players: 6,300,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 1,391,557 Chinese Yuan)
- 12 Foreign Players: 7,300,000 Turkish Lira (approximately 1,612,439 Chinese Yuan)
