On the early morning of June 25, Croatia was denied a victory in the final moments of their third Euro group match, finishing with two points and in third place. Following this match, England, France, and the Netherlands secured their spots in the Round of 16.
According to the tournament’s qualification rules, besides the top two teams from each of the six groups advancing, the four best third-placed teams will also qualify for the knockout stage.
As of now, both Group A and Group B have completed their group stage matches. In Group A, Hungary stands in third with three points, while Croatia, with two points, occupies the same position in Group B.
This means that neither team can surpass France, the Netherlands, or England, who all currently have four points. Even if these three teams were to lose their final matches in stunning upsets, they would still advance to the Round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams.
