On May 10th (Beijing Time), Ashley Young shared his thoughts on England’s Euro squad with British media talkSPORT, suggesting that he hopes Gareth Southgate pairs Bellingham, Rice, and Foden in the midfield.
In the interview, he expressed his view on the English central midfielders, saying, “If Southgate wants to win the Euros this year, he must start with Bellingham, Rice, and Foden in the middle. Personally, I like Rice as the defensive midfielder, with Foden and Bellingham pushing forward for attacking options.”
“I’m convinced that with this attacking setup, complemented by other in-form players, England can go further and win matches,” he added.
When discussing whether Kyle Walker or Trent Alexander-Arnold should be the right-back, Young commented, “I wouldn’t say I have a preference, but Kyle Walker is more suitable. He has the experience, but you can’t fault either of them – they’re both exceptional players.”
England is drawn in Group C for this Euro, alongside Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia.
