Everton Football Club has released an official statement updating supporters and stakeholders on the latest developments in the club’s acquisition process. The announcement reveals that the Friedkin Group has been granted exclusivity to advance takeover discussions.
The statement reads: “Everton Football Club wishes to provide an update on the club’s ownership process, which has attracted significant interest from well-regarded institutions. Today, the Club confirms it has granted exclusivity to the Friedkin Group to progress negotiations for the acquisition. All parties will work together to complete the process, while the Club continues its day-to-day operations. Any further updates will be communicated through the Club’s official channels.”
It was previously reported that the Friedkin Group aims to acquire a 94.1% stake in the club, an offer that was accepted by Moshiri last week. Once commercial terms are finalized, a definitive acquisition agreement will be agreed upon.
Notably, 777 Partners nearly completed the acquisition of Everton last year, but the deal fell through in late May when both parties failed to reach an agreement, ultimately resulting in the termination of the proposed takeover.
