On June 18th, according to Spanish newspaper El Diario Sport, Barcelona has turned down a €30 million transfer proposal from Manchester United for their young midfielder, Fermen Lopez.
In the program “La Posesión” aired on sport.es, it was reported that Manchester United has approached Barcelona to discuss the possibility of signing Fermen. Despite an underwhelming season under Ten Hag, Manchester United, with the Dutch manager staying on, is seeking a technically gifted and defensively solid midfielder, making Fermen a target. It’s understood that United’s initial bid of €30 million was swiftly dismissed by Barcelona.
Fermen had an outstanding campaign last season at Barcelona, boosting his market value. Although his current valuation on Transfermarkt is exactly €30 million, Barça is well aware of the potential he possesses. The club believes that if Manchester United is serious about acquiring Fermen, they will have to significantly increase their offer – only a remarkable sum could persuade Barcelona to consider parting ways with their prized asset.
Last season, Fermen made 42 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 11 goals, including a memorable one against Real Madrid in El Clásico. Currently, he is with the Spanish national team competing in the Euros in Germany and did not feature in the opening match against Croatia.
