According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf on June 15, the Netherlands has suffered another blow ahead of their opening UEFA Euro group match, as Ajax forward Brian Brobbey missed the team’s final training session before the game. As a result, he is expected to sit out the first group fixture against Poland.
Brobbey enjoyed a strong season with Ajax, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 43 appearances. His absence compounds the Netherlands’ woes, especially after losing Frankie de Jong and Kuppers to injuries, with backup attacker Zirkzee also battling hamstring issues.
The Dutch national team is in Group D at the Euros, alongside France and Austria. Both the Netherlands and Poland have been plagued by injuries, with Poland’s star striker Robert Lewandowski doubtful, and Juventus forward Milik ruled out of the tournament. The Netherlands will face France on Friday and play their final group match against Austria on June 25.
