June 18 – According to British journalist Gerard Cusons, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland found himself on an extended break after Norway’s failure to qualify for a major tournament. However, even during his downtime, Haaland couldn’t escape some unexpected attention. While enjoying leisure time at his favorite vacation spot in Marbella, the 23-year-old forward was approached by a group of fully armed, riot-equipped police who requested to see his identification.
It is understood that Haaland was relaxing at a beach club when the incident occurred. Witnesses reported seeing the police storm the establishment, with a helicopter hovering overhead. The raid on the beach club, which is owned by Hollywood actress Eva Longoria, took place on Sunday evening. The club has been targeted due to a series of shootings in the area, prompting repeated “Operation Marbella” interventions by the British government since April to ensure the safety of English and Irish tourists.
Following Norway’s elimination from Euro contention, Haaland returned to his property in Marbella, where he was spotted vacationing nearby, dancing with a DJ and other revelers last week.
The club owner has yet to comment on the daylight raid. A British expat joked about the incident, saying, “Who would have thought the police were such big Haaland fans that they’d go to the beach to get a photo with the City star?”
