On June 18th, the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, securing the championship with a 4-1 series win. Concluding their playoffs with a 16-3 record, the Celtics’ journey to the title was indeed well-deserved.
4-1 Heat In the first round against the Heat, who had eliminated them in last year’s Eastern Conference Finals, the absence of Jimmy Butler made the series one-sided. Apart from a slight slip in Game 2, where they lost 111-101, the Celtics won the other four games by a minimum margin of 14 points, with three victories by 20 points or more.
4-1 Cavaliers In the Eastern Conference Semifinals versus the Cavaliers, the pattern repeated. Despite losing Game 2 due to Cleveland’s exceptional three-point shooting, the Celtics comfortably won the other four matches. They clinched the series in Game 5 with a 109-102 victory, finishing at 4-1.
4-0 Pacers In the Eastern Conference Finals against the Pacers, Boston took control early. After Brown’s crucial steal and game-tying play in Game 1, Indiana’s morale plummeted. A 16-point victory in Game 2 followed, and with Haliburton’s absence, the Celtics completed a 18-point comeback in Game 3, sealing their fourth Finals appearance in five years without dropping a game.
4-1 Mavericks In the Finals against the Mavericks, the Celtics dominated with an 18-point win in the opener, with Brown and Porzingis shining. In Game 2, Holiday’s 26 points and 11 rebounds secured another win. Though Dallas rallied from a 21-point deficit in Game 3 to trail by just two, Luka Doncic fouled out, and Boston took a commanding 3-0 lead. Despite a lopsided loss in Game 4, the Celtics closed out the series at home, claiming the 2024 NBA Championship!
