Cyberpunk star Justinas Lekavicius, known as jL, recently sat down with HLTV for an exclusive interview. The Lithuanian rifler delved into his journey to becoming a pro player, his transition from Apeks to Natus Vincere, the team’s adventure at the Copenhagen Major, and his aspirations for the future.
Here are some highlights from the interview:
jL reflected on his initial passion for CSGO and how the desire to outperform those around him fueled his ambition:
“My brother was playing this game, and I wanted to surpass him. Later, I wanted to be better than my classmates.” This competitive spirit propelled him towards a professional career.
Discussing Apeks’ impressive run at the Paris Major semi-finals, jL explained in detail why he chose to join NaVi:
“Joining NaVi was a dream I never thought would come true, as my path was that of an international player, and NaVi had always been a CIS-based team.
Once I received an offer from NaVi, I knew they were the ones. I had other offers, but I delayed my responses until NaVi confirmed my spot.
As soon as they did, I turned down the rest and went straight to NaVi.”
After discussing his collaboration with w0nderful and Aleksib, the conversation shifted to NaVi’s Major triumph in Copenhagen and jL’s standout MVP performance.
“Winning the Major MVP was a dream, but I never imagined it could happen. I thought I could win the Major, but I didn’t think I’d outshine my teammates like that.”
In closing, jL shared his thoughts on NaVi’s future objectives:
“As long as we keep improving, I don’t believe the Major will be our only championship title. I think we’ve only tapped into half, if not less, of our true potential. Our next step is to use the Major victory as a confidence booster and keep pushing forward, hoping we can maintain this form.”
