According to a data company’s calculations, if the Scottish team makes it to the final of the Euros, their fans could spend an average of €11,000, topping the list of the 24 participating nations.
This figure is based on average accommodation prices in Germany, flight costs from various countries, food averages, and match ticket averages. The assumption is that all countries will reach the final. Expenses are calculated for two people in total. In this analysis, Scottish fans might have to pay a higher “price of happiness” compared to others.
Estimates suggest that if Scotland reaches the final, its fans (per pair) would spend an average of €21,962. Flights alone would cost an average of €2,954, which is over €800 more than other countries. This is compared to English fans’ €977. Scotland’s group matches are in Munich, Cologne, and Stuttgart, with average train costs of €399. Only German, Portuguese, and Polish fans face higher average train ticket expenses. Stuttgart is noted for its high accommodation costs, averaging €2,925 per night.
Hungary and Denmark follow closely in terms of average spending, while the Czech Republic has the lowest. As the host, Germany ranks 13th on the list, partly due to the expectation that their fans might consume more beer than others.
