On June 15, the UEFA European Championship continues with Switzerland facing Hungary at 9 pm. Ahead of the match, captain Granit Xhaka and Coach Murat Yakin jointly attended a press conference, addressing rumors of a dispute with the manager during the qualifying matches due to late-game errors.
Previously, the Swiss team had only defeated Andorra in their last eight games and squandered leads against opponents like Israel and Kosovo, eventually securing a second-place finish in their qualification group for the 2024 UEFA Euro.
Xhaka stated, “We are all adults, and we can clear things up. So in the past 6-8 months, my relationship with the coach has been very good. It’s much better than before.”
“He has visited me many times, and we’ve had dinners together. We’ve shared quite a few drinks. So everything is going smoothly. We are both ambitious and want to succeed for ourselves and the team. We are glad to have a coach who listens to us and is willing to talk. We hope to send an important signal tomorrow (June 15) with a great match and strive to win all our group stage fixtures.”
In this Euro Cup, Switzerland, currently ranked 19th in the world, is placed in Group A alongside hosts Germany, Scotland, and Hungary.
