On August 30, FIBA officially updated the latest rankings for women’s basketball. The Chinese women’s basketball team fell two places to reach the world’s 4th position. In the recently concluded Paris Olympic women’s basketball competition, the Chinese women’s basketball team performed poorly with one win and two losses in the group stage, failing to advance from the group. Consequently, the ranking of the Chinese women’s basketball team dropped two places from the previous 2nd position to the 4th. The US women’s basketball team, which completed an eight-Olympic championship streak, remains at the top with a significant lead. Australia, which won the bronze medal, rose to second place, while the host country France’s women’s basketball team climbed four places to the world’s third position. Spain, Belgium, Canada, Nigeria, Serbia, and Japan are ranked 5th to 10th respectively, among which the Olympic dark horse Nigeria’s ranking rose by four places. Germany’s women’s basketball team, making their first entry into the Olympics, broke through the group stage and advanced to the quarter-finals, with their ranking soaring by eight places to the world’s 13th position, becoming the team with the largest ranking increase among the top 20.
