On August 26th, the Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournament continues, with the Czech Republic Women’s Basketball team facing off against the South Korean Women’s Basketball team in the final match of the Mexico zone.
After going through the group stage and semi-finals, the Czech Republic Women’s Basketball team and the South Korean Women’s Basketball team meet again in the final, competing for a spot in the World Cup qualifying tournament.
During the group stage, the two teams had a previous encounter, where the Czech Republic Women’s Basketball team defeated the South Korean team 76-63. Five players from the Czech Republic scored in double digits, with Cehova scoring 15 points, Resingerrova 13 points, Violarova 12 points, Androva and Sipova both scoring 11 points. Only three players from the South Korean team scored in double digits, Park Ji-su with 20 points, Chin An and Shin Ji-hyun both with 10 points.
In the semi-final that concluded on August 25th, the South Korean Women’s Basketball team eliminated the Montenegrin team 88-66. Three players from the South Korean team scored in double digits, with Lee Soo-hee scoring 23 points, Kang Ri-seo 20 points, and Park Ji-hyeon 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Czech Republic Women’s Basketball team eliminated the host team Mexico 82-72, with three players from the Czech Republic scoring in double digits, Violarova with 20 points, Spopislava with 13 points, and Resingerrova with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
After four games, three players from the South Korean team averaged double-digit scores. Veteran player Kang Ri-seo averaged 17 points per game with 4 three-pointers made, the 1.95-meter tall center Park Ji-su averaged 15.5 points, and Park Ji-hyeon averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.
After four games, three players from the Czech Republic team averaged double-digit scores, Resingerrova averaging 14 points and 5.8 rebounds, Violarova averaging 12.8 points and 5 rebounds, and Cehova averaging 10.3 points and 5.5 rebounds.
The Czech Republic Women’s Basketball team advanced to the final of the Mexico zone with four consecutive victories, while the South Korean team narrowly qualified and advanced to the final after losing their first two matches in the group stage.
The two teams faced each other just five days ago, so they are well acquainted with each other. Considering the overall performance of this event, the Czech Republic Women’s Basketball team has a slight advantage, but the underdog South Korean team is improving, and thus cannot be completely overlooked. This match will be a tough competition between the two teams.
