On August 18, Yahoo Sports, citing a report from Brazilian media UOL Esporte, stated that Real Madrid has rejected a €100 million offer from a Saudi Pro League team for defender Eder Militão, who will continue to play for the Spanish giants in the new season.
In the summer of 2019, Real Madrid signed Militão for a transfer fee of €50 million, and he has been playing for the club since then. However, during the 2023-24 season, Militão suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which limited him to just 13 appearances throughout the season. Despite this, he still contributed to Real Madrid winning both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. In the UEFA Super Cup match against Atalanta, Militão started and played the full match, helping Real Madrid secure a 2-0 victory and lift the trophy.
Although Real Madrid’s midfield and attack are very luxurious, their defense is not as reassuring. Former captain Nacho has left for the Saudi Pro League, while David Alaba has only recently returned from injury, making the club reluctant to sell any of their defenders.
Militão’s release clause stands at a staggering €500 million, which poses a significant challenge for any Saudi Pro League team attempting to sign him.
