After the home defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, head coach Gary O’Neill admitted that the goals gifted to the opposition were “unacceptable,” but he is confident that the team will work hard to address these issues in the coming week.
“I like this team, but we do need some help. I’ve mentioned this multiple times; we lost our captain and a top player who was sitting on the opposing bench today. But with the squad we have, we can perform better, and it’s my responsibility to ensure that we do. The Premier League is tough, we sold a few good players, and there’s still a lot of work to be done before the transfer window closes. By the time September arrives, we’ll have several months of a long season ahead, and the transfer window won’t open again until January. We need to make sure we’re prepared.
We are working hard, and the club is working hard too. From the moment I arrived here, I knew we had certain financial constraints, everyone knows this; we are not a club that can spend money freely at the moment. But I hope we can complete some deals with the funds we have raised.”
