On the morning of August 21, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) announced the new roster for the national team via a live video stream. However, this method of announcement has received considerable criticism from the public.
The media figure Du Liyan wrote on social media: “The approach of live-streaming the announcement of the national team roster, in terms of its execution, did not meet expectations. The first half-hour Q&A session was unnecessary. A more reasonable approach would be to allow journalists to ask questions after the head coach announces the roster. Additionally, a larger press conference room should be used, inviting more journalists to attend in person and ask questions. Moreover, the image of the head coach manually arranging player placards was too small and the viewing experience was poor. We can take reference from the pre-announcement press conference of the Spanish national team’s head coach Luis de la Fuente before the start of the European Cup this summer. Our football association still has a lot to learn.”
