On August 24, according to the official release from the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile), an overview of the technical upgrades made by F1 teams was provided. Among them, Red Bull debuted a new engine cover, while Ferrari did not introduce any upgrades. Details are as follows:
McLaren: The British team improved airflow by upgrading the front and rear suspensions of their car. They also used high-downforce versions of the rear wing and bargeboards to suit the layout of the Zandvoort track.
Red Bull: The reigning champions debuted a new engine cover, which optimizes the car’s performance in the upcoming races through a smaller exhaust outlet. The Austrian team also upgraded the Halo side wings to improve airflow. The newly designed mirrors better channel air to the underfloor.
AlphaTauri: Red Bull’s junior team made minor upgrades to their car in the Netherlands, including a redesign of the brake duct area. With lower cooling requirements for the brakes in the coming races, the reduced brake cooling system allows the car to generate better downforce.
Alpine: The French team modified the front suspension of their car. The team stated that this design “better manages the airflow to the rear of the car.” Alpine also brought brake ducts specifically designed for the Zandvoort track.
Hauges: The American team focused its upgrades on the front of the car. The VF-24 car is equipped with a new front wing this weekend, which better optimizes the airflow around the nose cone and chassis. The nose cone has been modified to match the new front wing, integrating the “nose” with the front wing. The front suspension has also been revised.
Williams: After the summer break, the British team brought significant upgrades. Williams introduced a redesigned floor and an updated diffuser. The sidepods of the car have a flatter design, and combined with the upgraded engine cover and new floor, they provide better downforce performance. The roll hoop of the car has also been upgraded.
