43-year-old former Argentine international, ex-River Plate, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Manchester City star Demichelis, after concluding his coaching tenure with Bayern Munich’s youth team and River Plate, has joined Mexican club Monterrey as head coach. During his official unveiling press conference, Demichelis praised his new club and committed to the goal of winning the championship.
At the press conference, the club president of Mexican Monterrey, Tato, pointed out: “Demichelis had an outstanding sporting career, combined with his personality, preparation, rigor, and character, we believe he is a perfect fit for the team.” The sporting director, Lara, noted: “Despite having other invitations, he decided to come here.”
Demichelis then stated: “We (the coaching staff) are very excited; we have joined a great club, a great team, with fantastic fans. If there is one thing that catches our attention, it is the pursuit of victory. I want to thank the players for being open to our input, showing excellent quality, execution, and determination to improve.”
Demichelis emphasized that winning the league championship is the goal: “The team is continuously developing, the challenge is to become the protagonist of the league, regardless of the opponent or circumstances. I love challenges. Every day will be an opportunity for players to earn their spot for the weekend matches. We are here, willing to take on responsibility and hoping to win the league.”
Demichelis brought with him three assistant coaches, one fitness coach, and one analyst, while retaining two assistants from the previous coaching staff. When discussing his coaching style, Demichelis said: “I analyze football from the physical, technical, tactical, and personal aspects. We will strive to build a solid, competitive, and proactive team.”
