According to reports, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco is monitoring the situation with Sancho.
Sancho could become a major player in the transfer market by late August. Manchester United does not make much use of this left winger, but they hope to sell him for at least 40 million euros. So far, no club has made an offer to buy him, and some clubs believe he may eventually be loaned out.
Sport understands that Barcelona’s sporting director Deco is closely watching Sancho, as bringing him in on loan could be a good option for Barcelona. However, his salary is very high and must be fully covered.
Sancho joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021. The transfer fee was estimated at 85 million euros, and Sancho signed a five-year contract with Manchester United until June 2026. Sancho’s performance gradually declined at Manchester United, and at the start of his third season, Dutch manager Ten Hag questioned his lack of enthusiasm in training and excluded him from the squad. Ultimately, Sancho was loaned back to his former club Borussia Dortmund in January this year.
The 24-year-old has played 83 games for Manchester United, scoring 12 goals and providing 6 assists, totaling 5001 minutes on the pitch. His most recent game was the Community Shield final against Manchester City on August 10, which Manchester United lost on penalties. Sancho came on as a substitute in the 83rd minute, replacing Rashford. Prior to that, his last appearance for Manchester United was in the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest on August 26, 2023 (a 3-2 win). In the first game of the 2024/25 Premier League season, Manchester United vs Fulham on August 16 (a 1-0 win), he was not included in the squad.
