On July 30, in Group A of the Olympic Men’s Basketball tournament, the game between Canada and Australia is underway.
In the first quarter, Giddey scored first, with SGA responding with a mid-range shot, but he picked up two fouls within a minute and had to leave the court. Both teams then started trading three-point shots, with Australia clearly having the more potent offense. After Murray entered the game, Canada began to catch up, but Exum hit another mid-range shot. The teams were locked in a stalemate, with Giddey scoring consecutively. Canada earned points from the free-throw line, Nembhhard hit a three-pointer, and Dillon made a tough layup to tie the score. Murray hit a three-pointer as well, but Australia continued to score inside. At the end of the first quarter, Australia led Canada 28-26.
In the second quarter, Giddey hit another three-pointer. SGA came back with a successful one-on-one against Giddey, Dort completed a three-point play, and Canada tied the score again. SGA made another shot while maneuvering, and both teams engaged in an offensive battle, with the score remaining close. Daniels blocked Barrett on defense, Mills returned and drew a three-point shooting foul, making all three free throws. Powell dunked on a putback, Dillon made both free throws, Daniels scored four consecutive points, SGA drove to the basket successfully, McVeigh hit a three-pointer, SGA scored again, and Giddey answered with another shot.
At halftime, Australia leads Canada 49-45.
