August 5 news: Portland Trail Blazers center Deandre Ayton is expected to be traded again.
Earlier, prominent sports journalist Brett Siegel mentioned in his report: “Sources say that the Blazers and Ayton are expected to part ways at some point, but he is currently not popular on the market.”
However, sources claim that the Blazers are still evaluating Ayton’s role as a veteran on the team, so it is unlikely they will push for a trade involving the center at this time.
Ayton is about to enter the third year of his four-year, $132.9 million contract, with a salary of $34 million next season and $35.5 million for the 2025-26 season. This contract was signed with him by the Suns a few years ago; after failing to meet expectations, the Suns ultimately traded Ayton to Portland in a three-team deal which brought them Jusuf Nurkic and Grayson Allen.
Last season, Ayton played just 55 games for the Blazers, averaging 16.7 points, his lowest scoring average in three seasons.
