Recently, former Marseille coach Sampaoli, in an interview with the French magazine So Foot, commented on French international Dembélé’s performance at the European Championship.
Sampaoli said, “When Dembélé has the ball, the other players on the field are like bystanders, watching how the game unfolds. His performance is akin to that of someone with autism: he starts dribbling and then completes all actions alone. He doesn’t have the ability to make his teammates shine; he only knows how to shine himself.”
In this European Championship, Dembélé played in five games, starting four of them, but failed to score or provide an assist.
