On July 26, Manchester United recently announced their squad list for this summer’s US tour. The team has already departed for the United States to begin their pre-season training. According to British media outlet The Sun, during their US tour, Manchester United will implement personalized training plans for players, including sleep and meal schedules.
It is reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new assistant at Manchester United will be in charge of all player programs during the US tour, with the aim of enhancing player performance and achieving optimal levels.
The program includes:
1. Each player will receive a plan specifying sleep and meal times;
2. Custom meals designed by professional chefs and nutritionists;
3. A hydration plan to avoid dehydration risks, and individually tailored compression garments provided to improve circulation;
4. Assistance for players in adjusting their circadian rhythms, taking into account appropriate sunlight exposure at the right times of day.
This assistant previously stated in 2015, “We are very precise about food control. We bring our own mattresses and pillows so that our athletes can sleep in the same position every night. In summary, we believe these practices have given us a significant competitive edge.”
