On July 25, according to The Guardian, Manchester United’s new owner, Jim Ratcliffe, places greater emphasis on the long-term development of the team and does not require Erik ten Hag to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League in the upcoming season.
Following his takeover of Manchester United, Ratcliffe does not demand immediate success but instead aims to help build a solid and sustainable foundation for the club.
In the transfer market, Manchester United has successfully signed Joao Cancelo and Xaver Schlager. The club hopes to further strengthen its squad by bringing in defensive midfielder Yohan Auvitu from Paris Saint-Germain and right-back Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.
Off the pitch, Ratcliffe has agreed to allocate £50 million to renovate the Carrington training center, with completion expected for next season.
Due to frequent injuries last season, Ten Hag wishes to reduce the number of pre-season games in the new season to allow the team more time to rest and recover. Compared to last year’s eight pre-season games, Manchester United will play only six this year.
