August 6 – According to David Ornstein, the chief reporter for The Athletic (TA), Manchester United have started looking at other candidates because they are unwilling to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s high asking price for Ugarte.
It is understood that Manchester United have been exploring ways to sign Ugarte, but they do not intend to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s valuation, which is around the €60 million (£51.4 million) fee they paid Sporting Lisbon for Ugarte in 2023.
The valuations of the Uruguayan international between the two clubs are significantly different, and as things stand, Manchester United are looking at other players.
In his first season with the French club, Ugarte made 37 appearances across all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain, helping them win the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France, and the Trophée des Champions. He only started 21 league games for Paris Saint-Germain, although he did start five out of six UEFA Champions League group stage matches; however, he did not start any of the six knockout games.
