Recently, Bayern Munich’s honorary chairman Uli Hoeness stated in an interview that they had invited Oliver Glasner to coach their team, but Crystal Palace was unwilling to let him go.
Glasner took over as Crystal Palace’s head coach in February this year after replacing Roy Hodgson. In his first 13 games in charge of Crystal Palace, he won seven matches, including a 3-0 victory over Burnley in his debut game. Crystal Palace remained unbeaten in their last seven matches of the previous season, which included victories over Liverpool and Manchester United, ultimately finishing 10th in the Premier League.
Glasner’s impressive performance with Crystal Palace attracted Bayern Munich’s attention, who saw him as a replacement for Thomas Tuchel. Hoeness also admitted that they made significant efforts to bring in Glasner before ultimately appointing Vincent Kompany. However, according to talkSPORT, Crystal Palace valued Glasner at a staggering €100 million (approximately £84 million) to keep him, which deterred Bayern.
Hoeness said, “We talked to Glasner, and we liked him very much. He himself is very eager to coach Bayern, but his club did not let him go, and Bayern isn’t omnipotent either.”
