The Mexico national team has appointed Javier Aguirre as its new head coach; Rafael Márquez will serve as assistant coach.
“The 2030 Plan is the path to achieving our medium and long-term goals: first, to consolidate the best version of the 2026 national team, while laying solid foundations for the future,” said Executive President Ivar Sisniega. Aguirre meets the requirements set by the Mexican Football Federation for the coaching position:
Professionalism along with domestic and international experience
Understanding of methodologies and working methods that allow him to adapt to the profile of Mexican footballers
The maturity and strength to handle high-pressure environments both on and off the pitch
Proven leadership capable of achieving outstanding team management
