On August 2, former Leicester City title-winning assistant coach Craig Shakespeare passed away at the age of 60.
His family announced the sad news on Thursday local time. Craig Shakespeare served as assistant to Claudio Ranieri during Leicester City’s title-winning campaign, helping the team secure the Premier League championship in 2016.
The family of Craig Shakespeare released a statement through the League Managers Association: “It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Craig Shakespeare.”
“Craig passed away peacefully at home this morning surrounded by his family. While we are immensely proud of his achievements as a player and coach in football, to us he will always be a loving and much-loved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.” In 2023, Craig Shakespeare was diagnosed with cancer and began receiving active treatment.
The England national team, several Premier League clubs, players including Kasper Schmeichel, and others have paid tribute to Craig Shakespeare.
