On the evening of August 2, Roma officially announced that they have signed La Liga’s top scorer, Dovbyk, from Girona.
Dovbyk claimed the league’s top scorer title last season with 24 goals in La Liga and was linked with Atlético Madrid this summer. It is understood that to join Roma, Dovbyk voluntarily informed Girona that he would forego more than €1 million in transfer fee entitlements.
The base transfer fee for Dovbyk is €30.5 million, plus €5.5 million in variable bonuses and a 10% share of any future transfer fee, though the total will not exceed €38.5 million.
Previously, Dovbyk’s agent posted a photo of the Roma number 9 jersey on social media, causing some controversy as the number 9 jersey at Roma belongs to Abraham. However, in reality, Dovbyk opted for the number 11 jersey at Roma.
