Prior reports from Gazzetta dello Sport suggested that La Liga giants Real Madrid had entered the race for Hummels, potentially disrupting Bologna’s pursuit. However, according to German broadcaster Sky Deutschland, Real Madrid does not currently pose a significant threat.
Sky Deutschland reported that Bologna remains the most likely destination for Hummels. The Italian club is seeking a replacement following Calafiori’s departure and has always been interested in Hummels. They have already submitted an offer with an annual salary of around 3 million euros. Hummels has yet to make a decision as this final step in his career is crucial.
Following their unsuccessful transfer attempt for Jouro, Real Madrid is in need of a central defender. However, Hummels is not among their top targets, and there isn’t much support for his move to the Spanish club.
For Hummels, he is not keen on joining another Bundesliga team and prefers a club in a neighboring European country.
