July 19 – According to the latest report from Italian transfer journalist Skyra, Paris Saint-Germain has reached a preliminary agreement in principle with Portuguese midfielder João Neves. The two parties are set to sign a contract that will run until 2027.
Paris is willing to pay a transfer fee of €70 million for him, but the Portuguese giants want more. An additional clause may be included in the deal to balance both parties’ views.
The 19-year-old João Neves plays as a defensive midfielder. Last season, he made 27 starts in 33 league appearances for Benfica, scoring three goals and providing one assist. He won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship with his team in the 2021/22 season and was included in Portugal’s national team squad for the current European Championship, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals. He only played for 83 minutes during the tournament. Currently, his market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €55 million.
