At 0:00 on July 20, the 2024-25 season of the Danish Superliga will commence. In the opening match, reigning champions Midtjylland will face off against Aarhus away from home.
Last season, Midtjylland secured the regular season title by a single point and then won the championship by the same narrow margin in the subsequent playoff, leaving a lasting impression on fans.
The format for the new season of the Danish Superliga is as follows: 22 rounds of the regular season, with the top six teams advancing to the championship group and the bottom six entering the relegation group. Following this, both groups will play a double round-robin group stage (10 rounds), with points from these matches added to the regular season totals to determine the final standings based on the aggregate points from both phases.
However, it’s worth noting that even if a team in the relegation group ends up with more points than those in the championship group at the end of the playoffs, they cannot finish above any of the teams in the championship group.
