In today’s NBA Summer League game, China’s men’s basketball team lost 67-89 to the Spurs, suffering their third consecutive defeat.
After the game, Guo Shiqiang, head coach of China’s men’s basketball team, gave an interview to the media.
Guo Shiqiang stated:
The one and a half month concentrated competition had two goals: one was to exercise young players and give them more opportunities, the other was to evaluate young players and see who could participate in the World Cup in the coming years. Both of these goals have been achieved, and we basically know each player’s abilities and characteristics. I can’t share the players we are satisfied with, but the coaches definitely have a clear understanding.
Not everyone lacks the desire to win; most players still very much want to win. I will see all of their performances, and I will certainly give more playing time to those players who genuinely play for Team China and have a strong desire to bring glory to the country. That is a given.
