On July 11, Manchester United officially announced the appointment of two Dutchmen, Rene Meulensteen and Ruud van Nistelrooy, as assistant coaches to the first team. They will work under Erik ten Hag until June 2026.
Van Nistelrooy played for Manchester United from July 2001 to July 2006, making a total of 219 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 150 goals and providing 30 assists. He helped Manchester United win one Premier League title, one FA Cup, and one League Cup.
First-team head coach Erik ten Hag said, “I am delighted that Rene and Ruud have agreed to join our project, bringing a wealth of experience, knowledge, and new energy to the team. Now is the right time to refresh the coaching staff, and we want to build on the achievements of the past two years and take it to the next level.”
