July 13 – According to Mexican media outlet TUDN, Canadian captain Alphonso Davies suffered a right ankle injury during the semi-final which has put his participation in the third-place Copa America match against Uruguay in doubt.
It is reported that Davies injured his right ankle in a challenge during the semi-final against Argentina. Although post-match examinations revealed no serious damage, the player is still experiencing discomfort in his ankle.
Canadian coach Jesse Marsch admitted at a press conference that he is still unsure whether Alphonso Davies will be able to play. After updating the media on Alphonso’s injury status, Marsch criticized the refereeing at the Copa America, stating, “One of the main jobs of the referees is to protect the players. They did not do that.”
