On July 10, following the conclusion of the European Championship semi-final clash that saw Spain come back to defeat France 2-1 and advance to the final, Spanish midfielder Rodri spoke to reporters in the mixed zone.
“I am incredibly proud of the team’s unbelievable effort against one of the best teams in the world. Reaching the final has fulfilled our goal, but we want more. We have reached this point to win the final. That is the ambition of the team,” Rodri told reporters.
“The dressing room is very happy, but we still need to make one last push against our upcoming opponents. Because the target in the dressing room is victory in the final. We are delighted that there is only one step left,” Rodri added.
Rodri also discussed the analysis of the match starting with a 0-1 deficit, “It was an unexpected goal, but we knew their strength. After they scored, the team’s response was exemplary, showcasing its quality and turning the game around, which was very complex.”
Finally, Rodri addressed the incident where team captain Morata was accidentally injured by security personnel after the match, “A security guard fell over, I don’t think it’s a big deal. He took a hit, but he will recover in these days leading up to the final.”
