On July 17, Bellingham posted on social media, apologizing to fans for the loss in the Euro final and promising that the England team will bring home a championship trophy in the future.
In the Euro final, England lost 1-2 against Spain, missing out on the title once again. Bellingham admitted it was tough to swallow: “We gave it our all in the final, and now the whole team feels sadness and disappointment. We faced a great opponent in Spain. We were so close to making new history, but we ended up disappointing England’s fans again, for which I can only apologize.”
Bellingham expressed his gratitude for the support from England fans: “During the tournament, we were under prolonged pressure, which could easily have led the team into negative emotions. But I witnessed the relentless support from the fans for the England team, as well as their enthusiastic celebrations when we won, constantly reminding us that we are surrounded by the love of the fans, for which I am very grateful.”
Bellingham pledged to help England win a title in the future: “In this competition, everyone on the team has been doing their utmost to make dreams come true. The loss in the final is disheartening, but I have full confidence in this team. After this heartbreaking experience, we will strive to overcome obstacles and bring the championship trophy back to England at some point in the future. Until then, please continue to support us.”
Bellingham thanked outgoing coach Southgate: “I want to thank Southgate and the staff for their contributions during their tenure. This Euro tournament was like an exciting roller coaster ride for us, bringing hope and joy to our country. Southgate is not only one of the best coaches in England’s history, but also possesses incredible qualities.”
