Recently, American media outlet BricksCenter shared a comparison of the salaries between WNBA’s top pick Clark and NBA’s top pick Wembanyama.
After being selected as the No. 1 pick in 2024, Clark signed a four-year contract worth $340,000 with the Fever;
Rookie season salary: $76,500
Wembanyama, on the other hand, signed a four-year deal worth $55,170,000 with the Spurs upon being drafted in 2023;
Rookie season salary: $12,160,000
Clark’s salary is not even a fraction of Wembanyama’s.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that the highest salary in the WNBA season was $240,000, earned by Mercury’s Cooper;
while the highest NBA salary for next season is $55,760,000 for Curry.
The disparity between the two leagues is clear.
