As the host nation, the US team finished third in their group with one win and two losses, missing out on the knockout stage of the Copa América. In an interview, Jesse Marsch, the American coach who leads Canada, attributed the US’s elimination to a lack of tactical discipline.
Marsch commented, “I’d like to say that I’m solely focused on Canada, but honestly, I do keep an eye on the US games – it’s just my habit. Like many fans, I was also disappointed by the US team’s exit.”
“I was let down by their performance, particularly their lack of tactical discipline. There’s a lot of room for improvement in many areas, and we’ve always had great faith in these international players.”
“I’m not part of the inner circle of that US team, so I won’t criticize, but it’s clear that their performances didn’t meet the expectations that were set for them.”
