According to multiple Indonesian media outlets, Samuel Daniel Rots, the main right winger for Dutch Eredivisie club FC Twente, has expressed his desire to join the Indonesian national team through naturalization. The player himself has confirmed this, and the top officials of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) have already been in touch with him via phone.
Rots, 22, whose full name is Samuel Daniel Rots, is currently valued at €7 million. His grandfather was born in Palembang, Indonesia, which gives him Indonesian-Dutch heritage. The forward had an impressive season in the Eredivisie last year, scoring 7 goals and providing 10 assists.
The Indonesian team, led by Shin Tae-yong, is in Group B of the Asian Qualifiers for the World Cup alongside China, Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. In preparation for the upcoming matches, Indonesia is making efforts, especially in the area of naturalization. Besides Rots, Copenhagen’s starting central defender Diks is also awaiting a call-up, while Eredivisie player Rommy is waiting for the PSSI’s next move.
