According to French outlet Foot Mercato, 27-year-old former Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is close to joining Ligue 1 club OGC Nice on a free transfer, with both parties expected to agree on a two-year contract.
Ndombele initially moved from Lyon to Tottenham in 2019 for a fee of €62 million. However, due to inconsistent form and recurring injuries, Spurs loaned him out starting in 2021, with spells at Lyon, Napoli, and Galatasaray.
Ndombele’s contract with Tottenham was set to expire in 2025, but the player and the club reached an amicable agreement to terminate it a year early, making him a free agent this summer.
Now, it is reported that Ndombele has chosen to return to France, opting for a move to Nice on a free transfer. He has turned down offers from several European and Saudi clubs in the process.
