On June 10, the England national team officially announced that they have called up Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton to join the squad as a “training goalkeeper” for the upcoming European Championship.
The official statement mentioned that the 38-year-old goalkeeper will meet up with the England team in Germany and will provide assistance to the three main goalkeepers, Pickford, Ramsdale, and Dean Henderson, during training sessions throughout the tournament.
England’s head coach Gareth Southgate said, “I’m delighted that Tom Heaton has agreed to come with us to Germany. He’ll be a great help off the pitch. I’d also like to thank Manchester United for their support in making this happen.”
